The Ghana Education Service has announced that they are in serious discussions with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) concerning the issue of final year students who are preparing for their Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE. It ordered that, they should close down schools effective from Monday 23rd March, 2020.
It again added that, any decision arrived at after the discussion on the 2020 BECE will be communicated to the general public.
This was from a communique issued 20th March, 2020 by the Ghana Education Service, signed by the Director-General; Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa
The communique directed that, “schools opened to allow final year students to prepare for their final examination are also to close down effective Monday, 23rd March 2020”.
GES again assured that, their management is monitoring the situation and will review same in consultation with all relevant institutions and bodies and update schools on next step.
This came after the West African Examination Council, WAEC issued a memorandum to suspend 2020 WASSCE time table.
