It is often sad and heart breaking when awash on television and online news portals, the plight of the private health nurses fighting for their right to also be employed in the government hospitals.
This recurring injustice has drawn our attention to an audio sent to Cedi News. Speaking to the disappointed private health assistant,(Name withheld) he recounted to Cedi News that, “I completed way back in 2015, I applied for both government and private health institution, I got the private health school which was accredited by the ministry of health. I completed, hoping to get employed but I was hit with THE RECRUITMENT ARE FOR ONLY GOVERNMENT WORKERS! This was drummed to my hearing when I tried to apply for posting in the government hospitals.

He added that, “Since he completed in 2015 as a nurse, he has been home doing nothing and wasting away. “Every year, I renew my pin at the Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) hoping that I will one day get a job but my hopes have been a mirage”. He again added that, what is the essence of the yearly nurses PIN renewal to a jobless private health nurse when they always renew and are still jobless? I am not in this alone, a lot of us are home and few have gotten advantage to hop on the NATIONS BUILDERS CORPS (NABCO) what about the others? Does it mean our fate have been suspended as a result of our decision to opt for a private school? He quizzed.
He urge the government to see to it that, equity and fairness must apply to all nurses irrespective of ones choice of school.
